An excellent British bred primocane variety, without a doubt, one of the best and most reliable autumn fruiting varieties.
Supplied as 5 canes in damp compost when bareroot, these should be split up and planted in rows. Pot grown raspberries should be planted as a clump of 5 canes

Plant 30-45cm (12-18in) apart in rows 1m (3ft) apart. Plant in a sheltered spot in a well-drained but moist, fertile soil in full sun or light shade. Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the root-ball. Mix general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established. Autumn fruiting raspberries can be grown without support but may need a cane or two if the crop is large
Fruit is produced on the current seasons cane. Cut all canes to ground level in the winter. Keep rows 60cm (2ft) wide by removing unwanted cane in the Spring. A few canes can be left to give a summer crop, which should then be pruned out straight after fruiting. Apply a top dressing of well rotted manure annually.

Bliss is a heavy cropper from late August through until the first frosts with the highest yield coming in September. The attractive berries are large with a firm texture, and the flavour is excellent. The fruit is mid-dark red in colour and has good keeping qualities. The short, erect, spiny cane are sturdy and need only minimal support. Bliss has good disease resistance to Root Rot. Primocane variety – produces fruit on the first years growth.

*Bareroot – November to March is the ideal time to plant bare-root plants. These are plants that have been grown in open ground, then dug up for dispatch and planting during the dormant season. They are called ‘bare-root’ plants as they are supplied with no soil around their roots. They will come packed in damp compost to stop the roots drying out and should be planted as soon as possible. As long as the compost is kept damp planting can be delayed for a few weeks if necessary.
