Grey green feathery foliage borne on purple stems which are harvested immature. Adds distinctive shape and texture to salads and stir-fry dishes.
Kale is not fussy although it does like a firm soil with plenty of room to spread.
Baby leaf kale has a much more tender texture and milder sweet flavour than mature kale and makes a wonderful fresh salad.
Grow in containers or finely worked soil in sun. Sow every 3 weeks for a continuous supply.
Sow 1cm (½”) deep.
Thin to 2.5cm (1″).
